Consolidated Fire District is pleased to participate in many public events around the District. We offer a variety of programs for people of all ages. We offer FREE home fire safety inspections to all citizens of the District. Please call Fire Inspector Todd Kerkhoff at 913-432-0013 to schedule your inspection. If you have any questions, please email him at todd.kerkhoff@cfd2.org. The District also has a Citizen Ride-Along Program. This programs allows citizens of the District to "ride along" on the fire trucks like a professional firefighter. All citizens must sign a waiver of liability and dress appropriately to participate in the program. For more information, please call 913-432-1105 or email Fire Chief Hodgdon at phil.hodgdon@cfd2.org. Station Tours: Our stations are located at 6400 Martway in Mission, at 3921 W. 63rd Street in Prairie Village, and at 9011 Roe in Prairie Village. Firefighters are on duty at these stations 24 hours a day every day. The firefighters work on a rotating schedule--necessitating that the scheduling of any tours take place at least 7 days in advance of the date requested. Visitors are always welcome at our fire stations. We do require that parents and adults in the group continue to watch over any children carefully, as the firefighters can be called out at any time for a call. We do not allow birthday parties to take place at any of our stations; however, we do allow tours as part of a birthday party. During the tour, visitors learn about Fire Safety issues. These lessons are based on the age group of our visitors. Visitors in the past have included Boy Scouts, Tiger Cubs, Brownies, Daisies, Girl Scouts, and Mother's Day Out groups. Please contact Mary Smith at 913-432-1105 or email her using the link below for more information and to book a tour. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT GIVEN THE NATURE OF OUR BUSINESS, TOURS MAY NEED TO CANCELLED OR RESCHEDULED AT THE LAST MINUTE. WE REGRET ANY HARDSHIP THIS MIGHT PLACE ON OUR VISITORS. Our fire trucks are available for emergency services 24 hours a day. We can, however, bring the trucks out for special events or block parties when requested. Our firefighters are on duty 24 hours a day every day. The firefighters work on a rotating schedule--necessitating the scheduling of any fire truck visits take place at least 7 days in advance of the date requested. We do not attend birthday parties of any kind; however, we do allow tours as part of a birthday party. We do require that parents and adults in the group continue to watch over any children carefully, as the firefighters can be called out at any time for a call. While we love to show off our trucks, these visits and block parties are excellent opportunities for the District to teach citizens about Fire Safety issues. In the past, we have visited Safety Fairs and Safety Days for McDonald's, Wal-Mart, the YMCA, the Mission Parks and Recreation Department, and the Roeland Park Parks and Recreation Department (just to name a few). Many Pre-schools and Day-care Centers are also visited on an annual basis. We have also attended Festivals and Celebrations for the cities within in the District. All of these events offer us the opportunity to pass on educational information to children and their guardians; and we are pleased to take advantage of any opportunity to help save lives. Please contact Mary Smith at 913-432-1105 or email her using the link below for more information and to book a fire truck visit for your special event or block party. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT GIVEN THE NATURE OF OUR BUSINESS, FIRE TRUCK VISITS MAY NEED TO CANCELLED OR RESCHEDULED AT THE LAST MINUTE. WE REGRET ANY HARDSHIP THIS MIGHT PLACE ON OUR PATRONS. We have also included a series of informational sheets for both adults and children. The sheets for the children combine learning with play. We hope all visitors to this website will take advantage of the information supplied. Please click here for informational sheets. |
