Consolidated Fire District No. 2 covers 18 square miles in Northeastern Johnson County, Kansas, and serves approximately 58,000 citizens in the cities of Fairway, Mission, Mission Hills, Mission Woods, Prairie Village, Roeland Park, Westwood, Westwood Hills, and part of Overland Park.

Our Mission

TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS, PUBLIC EDUCATION, FIRE PREVENTION AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TO THE CITIZENS AND VISITORS OF THE DISTRICT.

About the District

In 2007, the District ran 2028 fire calls and 2820 emergency medical calls with a total dollar loss of $1,876,390.00 and a total dollar cost of property saved of $212,748,425.00.  Often, firefighters from the District are the first emergency workers to arrive when someone is hurt or ill.  The District requires that each member of the firefighter division be an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).  On average, it takes a little more than 4 minutes for a fire truck to arrive on the scene of an emergency call.

The District participates in many public functions, including tours of its stations, block parties, and festivals.  In 2004, the District took part in over 80 scheduled tours or other events.  The District also visited each of the elementary schools in our area during Fire Prevention Week to teach the children about fire safety and prevention and is the only department is Johnson County which holds a fire prevention contest which culminates in fire truck rides to school for the winners.

Following an emergency event, the members of the District often meet with citizens and residents to discuss how the firefighters functioned when at the scene and what exactly took place during the incident.
