Station Number 1, which is located at 6400 Martway, was known as the Headquarters Station for the District from October 1, 1988 until the Administration moved into their new building on March 16, 1999.  Originally, this station was headquarters for the Mission Fire Department before consolidation in 1988.  The station houses an eight (8) person crew, Engine 21, and Truck 21 (the tower truck).  The crew consists of a Captain, a Lieutenant, two (2) Apparatus Operators (Drivers), and four (4) firefighters.  A trench rescue trailer and the vehicle which pulls it are also housed at this facility.  A Med-Act unit is not located at Station No. 1 at this time, although they have been assigned to this station in the past.  This station is best known as the former home of Lt. Hoser, a Dalmatian who retired in September 1995.  Prior to retirement, Hoser was the District's most popular tool for teaching fire safety to children.

Station Number 2, our Headquarters Station, is located at 3921 W. 63rd Street.  In September 1998, the new, state-of-the-art station was occupied and the fifty-year old station was demolished.  The old station had been the headquarters station for Old District 2, which was opened in July 1948.  At that time, it housed the Fire Chief, the Assistant Chief, a Captain, a Lieutenant, two (2) Apparatus Operators (Drivers), five (5) firefighters, a Fire Inspector, three (3) ambulance personnel, two (2) pumpers, and an ambulance. The new station houses three (3) Battalion Chiefs (1 for each shift), a four (4) person fire crew, a two (2) person ambulance crew, Engine 22, Med-Act ambulance unit 1149, the Battalion Chiefs' vehicle, the Fire Inspector's vehicle, the Public Education Specialist's vehicle, and a reserve apparatus.  The ambulance and its crew are operated by Johnson County Med-Act.  The fire crew consists of a Captain, an Apparatus Operator, and two (2) firefighters.

Station Number 3, located at 9011 Roe, was originally built in 1954 for Old District 3, and was remodeled during 1998 and 1999.  It houses a seven (7) person fire crew, a two (2) person ambulance crew, Engine 23, Truck 23 (the Ladder Truck), and Med-Act ambulance unit 1144.  The ambulance and its crew are operated by Johnson County Med-Act.  The fire crew consists of a Captain, a Lieutenant, two (2) Apparatus Operators, and three (3) firefighters.

The Administrative Building was completed after the demolition of old Station No. 2.  It houses the Administrative Staff for the District including the Fire Chief, the Assistant Chief of Business Administration, the Fire Prevention Division Chief, the Public Education Specialist, the Fire Inspector, and the Administrative Assistant.

Both Station Number 2 and the Administration Building were planned and built to meet all ADA requirements.  Both buildings were designed by Shaughnessy, Fickel, and Scott Architects, Inc., and have caused quite a stir with their unusual design, curving walls, and floating ceilings.

The District is proud to show off all of our Stations and the Administrative Building.  Please follow this link if you'd like to schedule a tour:  Station Tours
