The District is made up of four (4) distinct groups of
people. They are the Fire Board Members, the current Employees of
the District, the Volunteers for the District, and the Retirees, the
former members of the District.
Fire
Board Members--Meetings of the Fire Board usually take place on the
third Tuesday of the month at 5:45 p.m. If you have any questions
concerning our next Board Meeting, please contact Mary or Sue at
913-432-1105. The Fire Board has oversight on issues of policy and
finance. All Fire Board Members live within the District's boundaries.

- Employees--Currently, the District employees 68 people.
This includes 1 Fire Chief, 1 Assistant Chief of Business Administration, 1
Division Chief in charge of Fire Prevention, 1 Fire Inspector, 1 Public
Education Specialist, 1 Administrative Assistant, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 9 Fire
Captains, 6 Fire Lieutenants, 15 Apparatus Operators (Drivers), and 29
Firefighters. Employees come from both sides of the state line, and
some drive long distances to reach their jobs in the District. For more information, please follow the link to

- Volunteers--Currently, the District has
3 volunteers. With
the exception of Chaplain Marion Pember, the volunteers are members of
Mission Fire Department, Inc. For more information, please follow the

Members--The District maintains ties with former members of the
District--board member, employee, or volunteer. We have endeavored to
have pictures taken of all retirees for posterity, and these photographs are
