This station was known as the Headquarters Station for the District from October 1, 1988 until the Administration moved into their new building on March 16, 1999. Originally, this station was headquarters for the Mission Fire Department before consolidation in 1988. The station houses an eight (8) person crew, Engine 21, and Truck 21 (the tower truck). The crew consists of a Captain, a Lieutenant, two (2) Apparatus Operators (Drivers), and four (4) firefighters. A trench rescue trailer and the vehicle which pulls it and the vehicle used by the Fire Marshal are also housed at this facility. A Med-Act unit is not located at Station No. 1 at this time, although they have been assigned to this station in the past. This station is best known as the former home of Lt. Hoser, a Dalmatian who retired in September 1995. Prior to retirement, Hoser was the District's most popular tool for teaching fire safety to children.
